Paul Fahey dominated saloon car racing in New Zealand for a decade between 1965 and 1975. During that time he had more wins at Pukekohe, Levin, Bay Park and Wigram than any other driver, and he defeated all of the Australian touring car champions of the period. What a lot of people might not know is that he is also one of a talented few who represented New Zealand on both two wheels and four.

Here Paul reminisces over a career that started on two wheels on the beaches and grass tracks of Auckland, which led to a start at the Isle of Man TT and then the European GP circuit. An unexpected turn saw him hang up his leathers and get behind the wheel of a racing car. His feats behind the wheel of such well-known cars as the Shelby Mustang and the Lotus Cortina soon saw him established as this countryÆs foremost saloon car driver.

While he puts much of his success down to being a ælucky buggerÆ, his work ethic, professionalism and desire to succeed combined to make him a true Kiwi motorsport legend.
